Gold @ Palos Meltdown

It was a beautiful afternoon out at Palos as riders converged from all around for the challenge of the 1st Palos Meltdown XC race. Drew and I headed over after our morning worship as God is first. Drew was a great pit crew in keeping me supplied with fresh bottles. I raced with the Experts today and it was a challenge. 50 of us took off for a race up hill while I attempted to find my grove. I looked ahead and saw Frank leading the pack. I passed a few and a few passed me as everyone was settling in. The first lap was the most enjoyable as several of us were mixing it up. Jerry from the MARS team and I were in the mix and I knew he was my competition. I was amazed to find Gatto on lap #1 near the end of the lap. I got by him, yet he came by determined not to let some non WORS Elite get ahead of him. He did a great job and I never caught him again. I was pushing hard as he was my target to catch. Jerry got by me on the end of lap #1 and graciously let me back as we entered Three Ravines. The rest of the race I was all alone as I focused on not letting Jerry catch me and trying to catch Gatto. The race finally ended and I came out with Gold in my age division! Goat took the overall. Ben from Pegasus took the 25-29 win. Pics here. Results here.

41 is the magic number! Young enough to have a good time, old enough to win the old man's class!
